Fertility Specialty Formulas
Blue Light, Inc. has Recently introduced a new product line called Fertility Specialty Formulas available to healthcare professionals. The concentrated granules are manufactured by Tianjiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. the largest domestic manufacturer of Chinese medicinal granules in China, and the formulas are carefully prepared in the Blue Light Lab in the US. Fertility specialty formulas come as easy to swallow capsules and granule formulations.
The concentration ratio for the fertility formulas is 5:1, with little or no recipients or binders, to allow each dose to contain the highest percentage of herbal extract. The formulas contain no artificial preservatives, color or sweeteners. The granules of the formulas are tested with State-of-the-art analytic equipment; high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), Infrared Thermograph (IR), and Thin-layer Chromatography (TLC), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES ) for heavy metals, hygiene, water solubility, and active components to ensure their authenticity and quality.

Clinical Notes:
- If the patient has a clear Western diagnosis, phase I treatment is recommended to deal with the underlining cause. If the patient has a non-specific diagnosis, then phase I treatment can be used as an optional treatment.
- The fertility care formulas are specifically designed to treat most common type of TCM fertility conditions. If the TCM diagnosis is not suitable for using the formulas, then use TCM differential analysis to guide your patients care.
- Generally speaking, for phase I treatment, the patient should not take herbs during the menstrual cycle and can resume herbal treatment after menstruation. The one exception would be when the herbal formula is used to cleanse uterus or to remove blood stasis.

Clinical Notes:
- At this stage, it is recommended for the patient to check Basil Body Temperature (BBT). The BBT is used to monitor and predict: (a) The length of each phase (b) The temperature fluctuation for each phase (c) Ovulation; and (d) Date of pregnancy, which is valuable information to evaluate if the patient is responding to the treatment.
- The cycle treatment is compatible and complementary to basic Western ovarian stimulation treatment.
- If the patient prefers only to use a natural method, then it is more effective if they receive a combination of both acupuncture and herbal treatment.
- If it is necessary, natural hormonal treatment could be combined. For example, natural Progesterone in conjunction with herbal remedies is used for Luteal phase defects; this combination is more effective than herbal treatment alone.

Clinical Notes:
- Generally speaking, once the patient starts injectble IUI or IVF cycle it is not recommended to use herbs since they may cause changes. However, in compliment to the western procedures, herbs can be used to reduce stress and ease the mind. It is important to maintain an open dialogue with patient and fertility specialist to confirm the herbal treatment.
- Please note that, BBT is not reliable after the patient starts the IVF cycle. Monitoring the BBT is not recommended at this stage.
- IVF pregnancy has high risk of miscarriage. It can be very helpful to treat patient with herbs to maintain pregnancy. This is especially true, for patients who had a blood thinner prescribed to them after the transfer. In this case, it is recommended to use prenatal care I formula for the first trimester.
Quality of the products:
Raw Materials: GAP(Good Agriculture Practice) are carried out for farming and harvesting. Every batch of raw herbs is tested for pesticides and heavy metals. Granule Extraction: Patent processing and pharmaceutical standard are conducted in accordance with GMP certification (China) and TGA certification (Australia). Certificate analysis is provided for each ingredient.
Quality Control: 3-tier Q.C. network checkpoint process and 5-step chemical analysis from raw herb to each granule ingredient are conducted.

The Fertility Specialty herbal treatment protocol is designed by Dr. Ann Wang.
Dr. Wang is the director and founder of the Integrative Medicine Center in Ithaca, NY and Vice president and Medical Consultant for Blue Light, Inc. She has training in both Western conventional medicine and Chinese medicine with more than 25 years experience in Integrative medicine. She is one the first six overseas practitioners to be awarded the title of Doctor of Chinese Medicine, Physician in Chief, by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
